Here's one for you.
I've a whole bunch of Orcs.
Most of them have the familiar Red Eye shields, but some have the Hithaeglir Wolf Head shield design, or the arrow head/eye design of the Dol Guldor Orcs, or the Moon design of the Minas Ithil Orcs, and even one or two with the Castle design of the Angmar Orcs.
Most, however have the red eye. And I was thinking - wouldn't it be cool if you could buy packs of 6-10 Orc shields, each of one type. So you could order 10 Hithaeglir shields to equip a force of orcs with.
Yes, I know there are subtle differences between the orc tribes, but with this way you could adapt any orc to any diorama or army.

An excellent idea aelfwine! :-)
And I'd like to buy several 10-15 Gondor's province shields. But not anymore those blisters containing 6 different shields.
Because I'm making a levy army of one or two of Gondor's provinces, I need many shields from just one or two province.
And I have never liked Gondor's Royal Army shield. :-( The White Tree just don't look good nor right. It's too naive and simple. It should be more stylished and graphic and look more like Tolkien himself has drawn The White Tree. So, I do nothing with those Gondor's Royal Army shields. :-(
But all the shields of the 5 Provinces look great. :-)
Anybody here want to trade those provincial shields? I could give 4 Gondor's Royal Army shields for any one province shield.

Sound idea Gavin, I would love to see this extended to weapon sets in general, plus a set/s of blank shields so that designs can be painted on.

plus a set/s of blank shields so that designs can be painted on. Yes! That's it, the Idea! Blank shields, yes please. One round shield for Gondor (& other good folks) and one for orcs and other servants of Sauron. That "evil" shield could maybe be triangular...

Actually, I'd also love to see a new Gondor shield. The new Beregrond miniature has a beautiful White Tree design. I'd love to see that design replicated on a shield.
Say ten of them for €5?
Hell, I might really like a new Gondor shield in a different shape (such as a Norman style "kite" or "teardrop" shaped shield).
Also, I have some province shields. Let me go count them and see which ones I have. Not as a trade, I'll send them for free.

I think this shield pack idea is a great one. I have a lot of orcs that I need to convert from one army to another. I tried purchasing a weapons pack from the discontinued sale along with a request for orc weapons and shields only but I recieved a bunch of stuff that I did not even recognize.

I wouldn't like to have to paint the designs on shields ; Chris would do a better job sculpting them.

I'd also like to see expanded the ranges of shields available in different packs, either for Gondorian and Arnorian provinces, the main Evil dominions and other mannish kingdoms...
...and elven kingdoms too.
I agree in that each province/kingdom design should be in a pack of its own.
I believe that shield shapes should conform to nations and "races". For instance, I'd like the kite or tear drop designs for northern and eastern Human kingdoms, but not so much for Gondor. Maybe we could expect that Gondorian and Arnorian designs would derive from a former Numenorean shield; how might it have been? It sounds reasonable to me a round design for them (in a Pitagoric sense, wouldn't be a circle the most perfect polyedrical form?).
And this leads us to another question: how are Elven shields? Wouldn't be any difference between Lindon/Imladris designs and those from Mirkwood or Lothlórien?
Will the Fey: I have one or two Gondorian provincial shields packs, and most likely won't use most of them. What would you exactly need?

Shield packs are a great idea and I for one would buy the full range. In the wargames world waterslide transfers can be provided designed to fit and the image to avoid nasty shield painting.! If there's interest I could talk to my friend who could talk to you.....and that's where I slink off....

It's a great suggestion. I think that some Wall Shields will be a great addittion to Mithril Range, to put Gondor Archers in a sure position behind them

Another concept might be blank shield "types"
- Round, Kite, Teardrop, triangular
And a set of decals for Rohan, Gondor, Numenor, Arthedain and so on and so forth (especially because I have a hell of a time painting the Mithril round shields!)
Other companies have done this for unit markings for their shields (Roman legions, for example)
Just a thought.
