I wish to thank all members who took part in the suggestions and vote so far. The top three from the last round are brought forward into this one. This vote is an open vote so you will always see the current state of the vote before you cast yours. As usual I encourage all voters to add comments exploring your reasons for supporting your choice. A winner can be decided by the slimmest of margins and there are plenty of undecided voters out there still.

I support the wainrider as there is no miniature so far. And there may be already more than one Aragorn.....

It's still Aragorn for me, though as I've said before, I like all of the second round suggestions this month.

Well, I suggested the charging Wainrider captain, which of course could only be a mounted figure, because I would like to see how Chris Tubb might interpret Tolkien's idea of those warriors. Indeed this figure being sculpted and released would fill one of the last gaps in the M and MS-Mithril-releases.
This could be a first figure of a Wainrider.

Though I am curious about how a wainrider would be depicted by Chris, I am skeptical about the fact it would actually by a "chariot" led by a captain, below a horse (as seen in some pictures from MERP games).. this would be bigger than a simple mounted figurine... I wish there was some guarantee about how it is represented in the end. In the meantime, though, three times before Aragorn has tried to win, now is the time ! Who will lead the final battle against Sauron of Mordor. Would you like the dark forces of Mordor to win? who will lead the army? we need this leader... we already have his army in the range, we already have his ennemies (warbands and various series), we already have the captains of the ennemies (Mouth of Sauron, Gothmog, the Witch-King) but we still don't have THE leader of the army of the free people! Vote for Aragorn ! Vote for the Light

And vote No. 11 is, as said before, support for Aragorn, Captain of the West.
For Gondor and Arnor! Charge!

I also like the idea of Aragorn at the black gate but nevertheless I think it´s time for a mounted chieftain for the dunlendings, although it seems there´s no chance for him this time.

Well- certainly voted for that wainrider! I expect a never-before-miniature! What a great suggestion. In opposite to another Aragorn figure- which will be number ten (included prototypes and unfindable Christmas figures . . . ) So CLEARLY: YES for the WAINRIDER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahem- everybody got his oppinion- but I simply would like to know, if Gildor do wonders how Mr. Tubb would create a female orc, too.

I like both favourite suggestions so I made my decision to try having a draw. This way, C. Tubb will choose which one inspires him the most.

"trying to have a draw".... that's a first
well I'll cross my fingers then... one more vote to be cast if we compare to 1st round participation
If only wainriders had a "name among them", a leader, someone of notable interest, but it seems that professor Tolkien never took time to emphasize on any leader among them or names, not even in the "History of Middle Earth" volumes. One can only assume they indeed had leaders, but Tolkien did not think it worthy to mention any of them... too bad

well there's something strange, earlier there were 32 voters, and Aragorn was at 16, dunlending at 1, wainrider at 15, now only 31 voters and there's a draw.... I assume an Aragorn supporter has backed off his vote...
I suppose it's meant for suspense until the last day... I don't know how I should take it...

as I said elsewhere : wainriders (as the name indicates) are chariot riders, not horsemen, they don't ride on back of horse they "drive" horses from a chariot behind horse, like the Scythians or Hamaxobioi in Greece this means it is not a horsmen that would depict a wainrider but a chariot driver (like in Ben Hur) Some Variags also used chariots, inspired by their eastern neighbours 'wainriders', here is an illustration : a wainrider that would be a simple horseman would be called........... An Easterling Wainriders belong to the "easterling ethnic group", their particularity is in their culture , they "ride chariot", that's why they are called this way, not because of their geographical origin... "The Wainriders were a people, or confederacy, of Men from the East. They journeyed in great wagons, and their chieftains rode chariots in battle. They camped in fortified camps of wagons" (LOTR Appendix A) Sculpting something like this would be GREAT, but it would require a vignette or a boxed set... it is not in the scale of a simple horseman. I deeply encourage our dear master Ent, if this suggestion win, to convince and be 'firm' in email exchanges with Chris that it HAS to be a chariot rider and not a horseman, no matter the increase in cost (I am willing to pay €60 for such a figure but I'd really be annoyed to have 'yet another simple anonymous oriental horseman' )

Still two days to go. There may be some late voters, or perhaps some voters may change their preference. It ain't over till the fat lady sings!

Is Mrs. Merkel the FAT LADY you mentioned? ?? That would be a nice perspective . . .

Post by Halbarad II. on Jun 30, 2016 7:23:27 GMT
No, the FAT LADY is a moving painting in a wizards school and when she starts to sing all glass will break - or not and she always asks you for a Password. Every child knows that

Well, Gildor I did never try to "place a strike" against your suggestion, though I had to witness that you placed a lot of strikes against my suggestion lately. It's up to you to do so, I don't mind at all. Please let me tell you that next time you better read the explanations for suggestions more thoroughly. Suggesting a monted Wainrider captain I never intended to have him riding a chariot or trying to intend a boxed-set. In contrast to you I can imagine a mounted Wainrider captain on horse. Your arguments were more or less based on an idea that all Wainrider captains ride chariots, as all Scots wear kilts. Same level that is to me.

It's not a strike against you master Theobald, I would do exactly the same, and have done before when I considered suggestions to be opposite to the canon, I myself also defended the idea of a wainrider captain in this "campaign" as you said it, but in order to clarify what/how they were described by the professor.
If people want a wainrider horseman, so be it, but they should also know it is no wainrider captain in battle, as per Tolkien description 'in battle, wainrider captains rode chariots'.

I wonder if Chris Tubb should sculpt both Elessar and wainrider captain. Putting these face to face would please everyone and make a great vignette.
