Beorn in bear form, carrying Thorin's body and fighting against Bolg.
A big vignette with dead bodies on the base: Fili & Kili and a couple of orcs, with a big Beorn standing and attacking at Bolg with one hand while on the other is holding Thorin. Bolg is protecting himself with a shield in one hand and a scimitar on the other waiting for a quick attack against the bear's flank.

Hi
As is said before, beside Turin, no figs from the first age are available. I would really appreciate a scene from The Lay of Leithian when Luthien and Huan just defeated Sauron and rescued Beren. Luthien, the only daughter of King Thingol of Doriath and Melian the Maia, and said to be the fairest Elf to have ever lived (a new challenge for Chris) is knee over Beren wounded. Huan the hound is beside Luthien looking at her. ;D

Hi!
Here I try again: what about creating a furious Beorn in the Battle of Five Armies, right at that moment when he´s crushing Bolg? Otherwise I would support "opou" from Spain. I think the Battle of Five Armies is ought to be a great source for vignette-ideas. One could combine it with the "Hithaeglir"-Series or "Thorin & Dain" figurines and all that eagles and dwarfs.

Ehh!
I`ve got another one: Old Man Willow in the Old Forrest, with Tom Bombdil singing and humming around, beating him with a stick. Old Man Willow must be made of different parts like your Dragons to give him the right scale compared to the Ents.

We need some Rangers. How about Halbarad (yeah, I'm sticking with him) meeting Aragorn in ROTK? Halbarad would be leading his horse, and tethered to his horse would be Roheryn (Aragorn's horse). Halbarad would have a look of relief on his face at finding Aragorn, and Aragorn would have a look of joyous surprise on his face.
'Halbarad!' he said. 'Of all joys this is the least expected!' - ROTK, Ch. 2, Passing of the Grey Company

I would be very interested in a set of all the Dwarves, together with Bilbo, on their way to The Lonely Mountain. They could carry some backpacks and other things, as they still have a long way to go. They could be made in a few successive months, with two or three miniatures a month.

I would like to submit once again the idea of Sauron against Elendil Isildur, either Isildur defeating Sauron or Sauron shattering Narsil (that would give an opportunity to see Narsil before it is remade as Anduril) and killing Elendil, this idea was great and that gives the opportunity to have figurines that have very scarcely been made trhoughout the whole serie (Sauron in full armor during the battle of the Last Alliance, never made ; Elendil, only M271 ; and Isildur, MS226, M272, MV359, and rarest of all "Christmas 1993") . There should not be any licence problem with Tolkien Enterprise as this scene of the Last Alliance is described in the LOTR.... I understand though that scenes or characters exclusively from Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales could not be made...

I will support the idea of Gildor and I will increase his karma . It can be a really great vignette. I would like to see how Mr. Tubb design Sauron in full armour. Just one thing: Please, nothing related with the film, I hate that Sauron with a mountain of steel over his shoulders, a big and extreeeeeeeemelly tall helmet and breathing steam like a train For sure, Sauron is really powerful but it doesn't mean that he must look like a steam machine. I personally like this view of Mr. Howe (it's Melkor not Sauron) www.john-howe.com/portfolio/gallery/details.php?image_id=971 You can see that he is wearing full armour and big helmet but in a normal shape. He is not being oppressed by the weight. I also like the black robes covering part of the armour.

Whether my ideas are accepted or not, I really appreciate this forum. Thank you very much (again!) for these opportunities! We've already got a lot of great ideas for August ...I liked the recommendation from July for the making of an Anatar figure. The appeals of this figure is that it hasn't been made before (not that Mithril has come even close to exhausting any of the lines) and it was in this form that Sauron most managed to impose his will on the world with the making of the Rings. I can see him in one of two poses. First, he is a very comely elf, clad in loose robes. He's tall, as a Noldor. In one pose, he's holding out with his right (or left) hand two or three rings. Maybe leaning a bit forward. He has a look of friendly confidence. A second pose, and more dramatic, would be him holding up one ring...THE ring, high up. It's on his ring finger, palm facing him, and he's arched his head to look up at it in pure malicious victory. He's stepping forward.

Im placing my idea of Pippin stealing the Palantir from Gandalf back into the list. I think this would be a funny scene to depict, when Pippin becomes obsessed with the Palantir and takes it from a sleeping Gandalf switching it with a rock. there arent enough vignettes that depict the scenes from the Two Towers.
But my vote will probably go to a vignette of the battle between Elendil, Isildur, and Sauron. The only Elendil figure has been of him sitting down. I would love to see him in battle with Sauron (he needs a cool helmet like Isildur and shield, and maybe have their swords clashing). maybe have Isildur running to his aid, and have a few fallen elven warriors on the field around them (no generic elven warriors have been depicted from that battle)

Old Man Willow must be made of different parts like your Dragons to give him the right scale compared to the Ents. Just a note about this suggestion. I inquired about the possibility of the Willow Tree and Chris stated that making a scaled 32mm TREE in metal that could be assembled easily and not cost a fortune in tooling time and metal would be very very difficult. All the limbs, branchs and roots would be a bit of a nighmare to craft convincingly.

Hi Is it true Michael that Prince August is not allowed to produce figs from all Tolkien books? Thijl The books The Hobbit and LOTR Trilogy are copyright owed and licensed by T.E. However the Silmarillion is still owned by Tolkien's family. We pay T.E. to be licensed to make metal miniatures from LOTR trilogy books and The Hobbit. Note: T.E = Tolkien Enterprises. The Silmarillion is therefor unfortunatly out of bounds at the moment.

Well, Annatar is a bit of a modification of my suggestion last month. Annatar would be Sauron as he appeared to the Noldor rather than Sauron the counselor of Numenor, but the general idea is the same.
I second the "offering of gifts" pose that sbond suggests, along with the Elvish costume that is more appropriate to Annatar. I might add if I could the fact that the costume should trend toward the gaudy and glittery, and I am a bit partial to the detail of his right fist being curled behind his back. What's the point of symbolism if it can't be heavy-handed?
Sadly, the only quote that mentions Annatar by name (that I could find) comes from The Silmarillion, but I offer it here nevertheless...
"But elsewhere the Elves received him gladly, and few among them hearkened to the messengers from Lindon bidding them beware; for Sauron took to himself the name of Annatar, the Lord of Gifts, and they had at first much profit from his friendship. ... It was in Eregion that the counsels of Sauron were most gladly received, for in that land the Noldor desired ever to increase the skill and subtlety of their works. Moreover they were not at peace in their hearts, since they had refused to return into the West, and they desired both to stay in Middle-earth, which indeed they loved, and yet to enjoy the bliss of those that had departed. Therefore they hearkened to Sauron, and they learned of him many things, for his knowledge was great."

There are lots of really great suggestions above, but I'll throw this into the mix anyways - Beregond has always been one of my favourite 'lesser' characters from LOTR - what about a figure of Beregond defending the door to the houses of the dead, look of angst on his face, sword in one hand, by his side but 'tensed', ready to move into action if necessary, with the other arm outstretched, palm faced outward, in a gesture to Denethor's servants to stay back. I'll have a crack at a picture and post it in the gallery if I get a chance.

Another thought for a vignette that I don't think has been mentioned although I can't imagine it hasn't cropped up, (apologies if it has & I haven't credited it), and that would be of Gollum, Frodo and Sam IN the Crack of Doom.
The scene would be of Frodo lying, or pushing himself up (having just lost the Ring), Sam running up, and Gollum falling backwards over the edge, hand held aloft holding the ring with a look of triumph on his face - not realising where he is headed! Perhaps the base could reflect the location - but definately not like the film scene which I think took the edge off the importance of the event, i.e. Frodo hanging off the rock.

I like the idea of having a vignette with Beregond. I would love to have the scene done where the Armies of Gondor and Rohan are standing in front of the gates of Mordor, when Beregond is facing a Troll Chieftan, and Pippin comes to his aid, and kills the troll with his dagger of the Westernesse.
"But through them there came striding up, roaring like beasts, a great company of hill-trolls out of Gorgoroth... At Pippin's side Beregond was stunned and overborne, and he fell; and the great troll-chief that smote him down bent over him... Then Pippin stabbed upwards, and the written blade of Westernees pierced though the hide and went deep into the vitals of the troll..."
This vignette would go great with the box sex of Eowyn and Merry facing the Witch King, because it would show the 2 great battles and defining moments of courage for the 2 silly Hobbits.

Hi, my suggestion is Lady Galadriel like M1 or as in "the Mirror of Galadriel" whould be great with flowing elven garments and cape, and playing an elvish harp, as in the books described when the fellowship was leaving Lothlorien.
I also suggest a figure of Halbarad Dunadan, holding the Banner made by Arwen Evenstar. I know GW has such a figure, but Chris can do it better!

Hi
I came back with my idea of Beren and Luthien Tinuviel as their story is related in LOTR (see text below) and so in your copyright. I would really appreciate a scene from The Lay of Leithian when Luthien and Huan just defeated Sauron and rescued Beren.
Thijl
Strider sighed and paused before he spoke again. 'That is a song,' he said, 'in the mode that is called ann-thennath among the Elves, but is hard to render in our Common Speech, and this is but a rough echo of it. It tells of the meeting of Beren son of Barahir and Luthien Tinuviel. Beren was a mortal man, but Luthien was the daughter of Thingol, a King of Elves upon Middle-earth when the world was young; and she was the fairest maiden that has ever been among all the children of this world. As the stars above the mists of the Northern lands was her loveliness, and in her face was a shining light. In those days the Great Enemy, of whom Sauron of Mordor was but a servant, dwelt in Angband in the North, and the Elves of the West coming back to Middle-earth made war upon him to regain the Silmarils which he had stolen; and the fathers of Men aided the Elves. But the Enemy was victorious and Barahir was slain, and Beren escaping through great peril came over the Mountains of Terror into the hidden Kingdom of Thingol in the forest of Neldoreth. There he beheld Luthien singing and dancing in a glade beside the enchanted river Esgalduin; and he named her Tinuviel, that is Nightingale in the language of old. Many sorrows befell them afterwards, and they were parted long. Tinuviel rescued Beren from the dungeons of Sauron, and together they passed through great dangers, and cast down even the Great Enemy from his throne, and took from his iron crown one of the three Silmarils, brightest of all jewels, to be the bride-price of Luthien to Thingol her father.

I have to confess I'm a 'standalone' figure fan rather than an enthusiast for some of the marvellous but technically highly improbable vignettes that are being suggested! - not least because I'm frightened of the potential cost of having to buy at least nine such sets a year...
So my own suggestion is very straightforward: Eorl on Felarof at the Field of Celebrant. It's a surprise to me that Eorl hasn't featured in the Mithril range before now.

I too prefer stand along figures, mostly due to cost. It seems though that fellowship voters seem to go for the vignettes. I would be perfectly happy with a mounted Halbarad all by himself.

I know we're only supposed to make one suggestion per month, and I've already made mine, but I'd support Wendy's Halbarad idea too if Eorl didn't make it to the final cut. (I'd also support a mounted Radagast, as Chris knows - hopefully Raddy will make it onto the voting list this time in compensation for his having been accidentally omitted last month...)
