Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. Also I wish to welcome any Bronze Member that is viewing this thread, I look forward to your suggestions. This is a single figure month only. So NO vignettes or multi figure suggestions. This also means no mounted figures or additional furniture. Examples of single figures include 'Aragorn and the Palantir' which shows Aragorn holding the Palantir or the more recent Lossoth Hunter. If you are in doubt then leave it out. Why do we ask for single figures only? Well over the year we have many different months voting options but in order to keep the cost of the figures down we try to encourage single figures more than any other type. Single figures also allow us to catch up with production as well. Vignettes take up a lot of time and slow down other releases. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 16th of October (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 15th. Second round voting will commence on the 22nd. This will last until the 29th of October. All votes will end at 16.00 GMT or BST (british standard time). You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. Ok, a pleasure to open the current round. This time I suggest the... Arthedain CaptainThe M14 Arthedain officer was one of the first Mithril miniature I ever painted, almost 30 years ago, and its still one of my favourites regarding the colour scheme I used. A fond memory whenever I look at it. When I recently saw the Christmas miniature I knew that I longed to have this miniature in our classic 32mm scale: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/2006_arthedain_captain.htmlPlease do not let his cape "flowing with the wind". While adding drama, it takes away realism and their usability to pose it with other minis. I would love to have it similar to the 54mm version, so that I can stand him right beside my Mounted Gondorian Officer M201, both professionally discussing the performance of a closing enemy host. There is also no need to have his sword drawn, just the hand on the hilt looks more realistic and shows contempt for the enemy. Thanks. Axel BTW: Please also take a look at the list of old suggestions. There is plenty of good stuff there, and resubmitting good ideas is never a waste. I will add the original authors of ANY submitted idea to the list soon: mithrilfigures.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=july2005&action=display&thread=1155464457

A single malt, er, month . . . Wait a minute . . . I would like to see a Sheikh of the Haradrim. It should be a worthy and distinguished nobleman in his best years. He should wear a turban with some jewelry and a typical robe like a Tuareg-Sheikh. He has to have a full beard and some strands of his black curly hair will look from under his turban, playing around his noble and friendly, gently smiling face. As a weapon he is wearing only a dagger or something like a Gurkha-knife. On his one ankled arm is sitting a hunting-falcon with it´s hood over his head. The bird is calm and has it´s wings folded close to the body. He is speaking to the bird to keep it calm. In his other hand or under his arm he has a thin stick or short whip for a camel ride. He is walking slowly forward in all his dignity towards that unvisible camel. All his look is not warlike but peaceful. He is skilled in debating, philosophy and history of his own, southern-bound people but also in hunting, poetry, playing the flute and singing. He might have been the father of that young Mumak-rider who fell in Ithilien. And within other circumstances he might have made friends with Faramir for he hates Sauron but he made the fault to believe in his lies about Gondor and the free people. May we have peace in and with Harad one day . . .

Mae govannen members of the Mithril fellowship
As there were lots of Elves last times and dwarves have no real chance like the Hobbits, I would like to see this one as a miniature (and my Elves Rumil and Orophin had not such a great chance and are not allowed this time) , I suggest my royal one again:
As loving the Dunedain and the Gondorians of Mithril I would suggest
[glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left,300]Earnur, the last (33th) and most ambitious of the Kings of Gondor[/shadow][/glow]
As we have never seen any greater kings of Gondor until Aragorn/Elessar, I would suggest Earnur in fine Gondorian armour, with nice ornately edged cloak, a fine sword at his side, holding a spear and a very nice royal shield, also more elaborated. I suggest he has longer hair than normal humans, NO HELMET ( because he likes to see his enemies and does not like any hindering protection), his hair is flowing in the wind and I think he needs a crown!!, but please not such a large thing like Elessar has in the "crowning of Elessar"-vignette as this large crown- helmet is more for official celebrations but not for "daily use". Maybe a typical "kingly crown" or a winged thing, but please no super-large helmet.
He could look maybe a little bit like M27 King Theoden but more Royal- he is THE King of the largest realm in Middle Earth and knows that quite well! or in a pose waiting for attacking the witch King.
The best thing of it: Earnur can be put in front of the so beloved Witch King of Angmar figures as there are several ones now available.
Just a quote: I think Earnur should not look like the typical to hard plate mailed knight as the Gondorians of the 3rd age in the movies nor like the Last Alliance heroes of the Mithril range. I think he should look royal but still a little bit more wild and willing to fight.
So that's it!
I hope to see one day mounted Rangers of the North as Halbarad is one of my favorites and Imrahil and Earnur mounted!
VOTE FOR THJE DUNEDAIN
It is the Age of men, but of true men? as Castamir ( a hidden suggestion?? ) said.
Regards Estel

Mae govannen Mr Bombadil, Very very nice suggestion, I always vote for Haradrim and Southrons as these are a very contrasting thing to all other mannish races ( I even like the hot desert-theme as it is becoming cold, dark and rainy winter now in Europe . My suggestion this month is
SHARKEY
‘an old man leaning on a staff, and he was clothed in rags of grey or dirty white’.
This is an old suggestion that’s been made several times before, once by me – though the idea wasn’t mine originally (I’m not sure who first proposed it!).

[glow=blue,2,300]Angbor the fearless, Lord of Lamedon[/glow]"Only Angbor, Lord of Lamedon, had the heart to abide us (the King of the Dead and Grey Company)..." - ROTK This dude was called fearless by Aragorn himself.
...Angbor the fearless...

SHARKEY This is an old suggestion that’s been made several times before, once by me – though the idea wasn’t mine originally (I’m not sure who first proposed it!). I just waded through all the old suggestion threads to get exactly this info into my list. Saruman as Sharkey first popped up for November 2005 by shadowspawn1. But reusing and enhancing existing ideas is a tradition here :-) If you want to find out who suggested a particular mini or scene first in the fellowship, take a look at the list.

"HERE WE MUST DIE" - The Last Stand of the Easterlings
Well this idea is inspired by an old Military Modelling magazine article about the Last stand of Napoleon's Imperial Guard.
I picture a soldier of Sauron standing in defiant pose (a sketch is on the way to Micheal) hefting his heavy axe as he prepares to sell his life rather than surrender to the victorious Gondorian army.
“…….for the Southrons were bold men and grim, and fierce in despair; and the Easterlings were strong and war-hardened and asked for no quarter. And so in this place and that, by burned homestead or barn, upon hillock or mound, under wall or on field, still they gathered and rallied and fought until the day wore away……..” “And in that hour the great battle of the field of Gondor was over; and not one living foe was left within the circuit of the Rammas…….”
I have classed this as an Easterling, but Ingold's description to Gandalf (The Seige of Gondor) describes these men -
“…., and countless companies of Men of a new sort that we have not met before. Not tall, but broad and grim, bearded like dwarves, wielding great axes. Out of some savage land in the wide East they come, we deem.”
So for my part I'm not sure if these are THE Easterlings or another race of men from the East. But as an option the figure need not be a defending warrior it could just as easily be chosen to be an attacking warrior, about to have a go at Forlong and the Lossarnach boys; I personally feel the defending idea sounds more 'romantic', and it is the broad, grim aspect that I like.
Uniform details I have chosen at random and are not meant to be specific, although battered armour might look good.
Anyhow, I will post when the sketch is posted.

A sketch of the ugly brute is now posted - follow Micheal's link at top of page.
As mentioned it could tie in with the forthcoming Easterling range, or could be just another generic Easterling type.

My suggestion is:
Angmar Orc Captain
I think the time has come to let the power of Angmar grow. Let's start the "Shadows of Angmar" - range.

Hi all, still prefering action poses, so I want to return to an older idea : a Wood elf scout in action with digger and small axe. As a scout he shouldn't wear armour. I imagine the pose as follows : running fastly forward with digger in left hand, axe in right hand ; he can wear a bow and arrows on his back, but no cloak. As if he is hunting someone. Thanks, Gerold

I think that the Angmar Orc Captain is a great idea! It has been a long time since the original Angmar troops were released.

King Elessar holding up his little son Eldarion
As Aragorn is a very much liked personality to the club members, My suggestion this month is: Lord Aragorn some time after his coronation and wedding to Lady Arwen with his firstborn son Eldarion at young age, holding him up with both arms over his head. King Elessar in royal garment, but wearing rather a circlet than the tall winged crown. Both looking and laughing or smiling at each other. Or the pose could be just little Eldarion on the Arm of Elessar, like Gilraen, if there should be to much trouble making the arms and boy seperately, though it worked well with the trumpeting Ent also, and that one was bigger...
The figure could be similar touching as Gilraen carrying little Aragorn! - Of course more happier, for there is no fleeing...
Let the line of Kings of Gondor and Arnor go on!
Cheers, Hwolf

Thinking about the upcoming Corsair release, the following might have some appeal:
[glow=red,2,300]BARD OF UMBAR[/glow]
He (or she, let Chris decide!) would accompany the Corsairs upon their raids along the Gondorian coasts in the middle to late Third Ages. The Bard would be dressed like the typical Corsair, leather for armor, but more for mobility and comfort than the warriors. They certainly would carry a long dagger, likely tucked into a sash.
As a Bard of Umbar, the musical instrument would be of native origin, perhaps a southern version of a lute or a flute, used to tell a tale. The pose should show the Bard either playing an instrument or telling a story, gesturing with their hands.
The Umbarians were quite literate, and any Bard would probably have a book or two on their person in any case.
The issue of whether to include a parrot is up to Chris!

Yes, very dissapointing that not one single Corsair has a parrot on his shoulder or a 'peg-leg'!!! (lol)

Have you seen all releases of the corsairs range yet? and what about the octopus-tentacles beard and the crabclaw hand of the captain? Don't let you be carried away too much from other movies or stories, this is LotR... just kidding...
Note from Admin: Please keep Corsair comments in the Corsair Thread. this will prevent confusion when replying to threads.
