I love making Mithril dioramas as some of you know. Now I am doing a simple one with M83. Smeagol & Deagol on the boat on the river.
Any suggestions for dioramas using old M minis?

Hey Ori, Thanks for sharing the pictures of your dioramas. So creative! I'm working on a couple of dioramas. One is Bilbo and Gollum (M144) in the cave. I found a great piece of flat rock, though the idea of making a whole cave is rather daunting. What would be best to use for the enclosing cave? Plaster? Or maybe not enclose it at all. The easiest part was making a little raft. Not the most original idea, but I have a extra set of these minis. The other is a scene of Strider and the Hobbits (and Bill the Pony) leaving Bree. I'll be using mostly LR minis for this since they don't have a base. Sam will be tricky because I want him to have an apple in his hand ready to throw at Bill Ferny standing behind the hedge. Any suggestions regarding which figure might work best would be appreciated. I fear it may not actually be a "Sam" figure. I still need to find a LR Strider figure as the M figure is just standing there with the sword in the air, and just doesn't fit the situation. And my Vengence of Smaug collapsed, so I'm going to make him "the Death of Smaug" and have him under water laying dead on the lake floor. He already has an arrow in his heart, so I just have to reassemble him in a correct laying pose. As for ideas using old M minis...I'm not too familiar with the minis under M100 as I just started collecting Mithrils a couple years ago. Perhaps a scene at the Doors of Durin at Moria? Or a Rohan scene? Sorry I'm not more helpful. I will have to look at the Catalog listing in the message board again to refresh my memory.

Ooops! I have just realiced that I posted this message in the wish list, instead of in the comments section. Sorry. You can see some examples of Bilbo and gollum in the cave. One of them is at www.modelika.com/miniaturastierramedia.asp You have to go to "las adivinanzas". Its from a spanish fellowship. I normally use Dash pronto because it is quite clean and works well. before drying you can give the texture to the rocks with some rough surface. Adding some water will be nice, to represent a portion of the inner lake. I agree with you. LR minis are great for dioramas as they do not have a base and it is easier to place them anywere. You can get a "not attacking" mini of Strider from M139, and for Sam..... Maybe M58? You can place an apple in the hobbit that hasn't got the sword. It will be right before throwing it to Bill

Hi Ori,
I just thought you can perhaps use a M140 to create the escape of Gandalf and the companie.
As you and Wendy talk about rocks I got a idea of a Mount Gundabad diorama with more imps and Mannish slaves teased by the Orcs . . .
Finally, I think a diorama of Fangorn Forest would be nice.
Cheers Jens

Due to space problems at home, I am more focused on small dioramas (Vignettes I would call them). I will live the big ones when I get a bigger house. My last diorama was the one with the attacking eagles so I will make a different theme afetr Smeagol and Deagol. Anyway, the main problem it is to find time to do all these. Again, there is a god diorama of fangorn forest at www.modelika.com/miniaturastierramedia.aspNice dioramas there
