If Mithril does this next , please include orcs with axes , orc standard bearer , Bolg, two generic elf swordsmen and archers, Thranduil fighting on horseback, dwarf spearmen and swordsmen.

with the new game requiring large armies it would be good to sell "cannon fodder" in packs containing larger numbers of figures for creating Mithril companies. I think there's going to be huge demand for a while. Slightly cheaper Mithril "battle packs" may well prove popular.

Hi Hordelord. Welcome to the forum. I think Mithril would love to do something like that. The only problem is a certain other company that to throw its weight around in a litigious fashion would certainly have something to say about it.

Hi All I would think that a Battle of the Fire Armies line (M series) would be great. Certainly it can build on other M series (even Fellowship figures...although this would only appeal to collectors) such as Dain and the Dwarves of the Iron Hills, and the Battle of Mirkwood series (i.e., Lorien elves). The focus of attention has been to the battles of the War of the Ring...and rightly so. But the most important battle in the Hobbit was vast (for the time), varied, and offers much to a wargamer as well as collector. Not sure which scene is more thrilling...Theoden's army breaking upon the host of Morgul in surprise, or Thorin and his company throwing down the West Gate wall and driving into the host of Bolg!

In hopeful anticipation of the Hobbit movie I really expect that something will be done for this theme. The UP was great as a starter! But it was as an MX and was born in Theobald´s thoughts though thankfully picked up and perfectly implemented by Chris. There´s that great MS-vignette of Beorn fighting Bolg. Thranduil is there and his standard bearer. And we have Thorin, some of Thorin´s dwarfs and Dain Ironfoot in war gear in high quality. Around this one can build friends and foes! People from Laketown, orks, wolves and elvish warriors! But for me, please, it should be no war-packs. The minies should be as elabourated as the former or the latest Rohirrim and not as plump as those from Mirkwood Battle or Lossarnach series.

well the White Council too is supposed to be part of the forthcoming Hobbit movie as they decided to show "implicite" things from the books... so the Council will help too! the battle of the five armies are indeed a must ! along with other version of the 13 dwarves

Yes, and what I saw of the White Council some days ago makes me feel cheerish! But they cannot be part of the Battle! And this is the most important obvious event in The Hobbit for Middle Earth´s history except Smaug´s death! There was only one event more important than this: the finding of the One Ring by Bilbo.
There are so many possibilities to come near to this very special battle: the marching elves, Dain´s men rushing by from the Iron Hills, the camp of the men of Lake Town, the "gathering of the clouds" Tolkien calls it, as I remember!

Battle of Five Armies figures are a nice idea, but would be pushing the boundaries of Mithril's Tolkien licence rather too close to GW's LOTR wargaming rights, I imagine! Like Mistress Wendy, I'm sure a horde of suited gentlemen would manifest itself on Mithril's doorstep faster than you could say "law suit". (Hmmm. Is there a polite collective noun for a horde of lawyers...? Probably not.)

Thanks a lot, now if works fine... By the way, the table of the White Council is very impressive.
