well, I keep true to my word and vote for Elfhelm this month, though I admit the other two suggestions are really great and should win too

on a side note I said I would cast my vote on the first turn to Elfhelm, as I said in the past I would support Barliman idea.. I'm true to my word.
We'll see how well the Elessar idea is received

Dammit, that's the problem with "mounted figure" months - all the suggestions are so good that I want them all.......
I could vote for all of them! Please, if your suggestion doesn't win this time, submit it in future! Some seriously great suggestions.
well I'd like to be this enthusiastic, Gondolin, but we get the chance to submit a mounted idea only once or at best twice per year.... Some of the suggestions here have been suggested several times... some Four times.... in the past... 5 years... that's long to have a "worthy" suggestion win

Once again (and it's the fourth or fifth time)....
I'd like to submit :
King Elessar Mounted at the Black Gate
Leading the last assault of the Free People against Sauron at the end of the Lord of the Rings, he would be clad in regal armor on a rearing horse, mustering his last forces to confront the forces or Mordor
I imagine him on a rearing horse, ordering his Gondorians to make a last stand in a similar way than M260 (and I don't remember there are a lot of rearing horses in the Mithril range... so that would be quite original)
Please, vote for my idea... It's been quite a while now that the range needs this figurine and it would only be great if done mounted (that's why I never suggest it on the regular single months).... Now is the chance! seize it!

just to add a late comment : Eowyn in battle gear , threatening can also be found in the MB279 boxed set, facing the Witch King .... she is on foot, 32mm, with sword and shield, un-helmed... so yes the figurine already exists , you just have to take it away from this boxed set

It's been more than three months now that I made the suggestions for sets among the GF , You said you would relay this request to Lars, but did he answer or could you please resubmit the idea? I'm sure I'm not the only one here expecting for an answer

Maybe Chris thought that Elessar and son meant Eldarion at a teenage age? Maybe he did not read the entire description ... which leads me to ask : Does Chris read the description of the suggestions before the winning of a vote, or is he only given a "reported list" of suggestion ? If so, if he only saw "Elessar and son", of course he rejected it...

indeed I did not say he was a canon name at all, he is not (well he is for Middle Earth Enterprises which incorporated all names and trademarks created by ICE after they ceased MERP products, from what I heard ) but Mithril on the other hand has already released him once : LR17 Indur Dawndeath, so he is no stranger to mithril NB : full biography on MMP here : mmp.faerylands.eu/viewtopic.php?pid=4333#p4333

too bad the Elessar idea was left out once again, it fails... well, that's life... as for other choices, considering I don't like orcs , well I supported Angbor, but also Ji Indur as I'd really be curious to see "one of the nine" still alive NB for Barliman : Ji Indur is the real name of the Nazgul who was also known as Indur Dawndeath the "fourth Nazgul" (the one with Elephant helm, from the MERP series... King of Mumakan, land of the Mumaks, in South East Far Harad)

I really like your suggestion Halbarad (if I remember well, I had suggested it myself years ago) I won't suggest anything myself as I really have no idea at the moment but I see many good ones In particular, I like the idea of Ji Indûr, but it would be cool to have others such as him... like Dendra Dwar or Uvatha Achef

I'am always in favor of what I would see as epic or special figurines that would be great to look at, even if in no context at all... This month provides many good ideas, and I really like Merry sounding the horn, or Earnur at Fornost... Still I chose Earnur because , well, as a painter, ... sorry to say ... I take more pleasure painting Gondor/Arnor men and elves than Hobbits or evil men

the idea of a fell-beast mounted nazgul in "battlegear" is great, if we could suggest such a figure but it would require a Boxed set.... I cannot imagine having a "small" fell beast the same way we got a small balrog...

well that sorta answer it out. none are planned for the time being at all se we can consider them in full standby mode until said otherwise. that's fair
but considering this, wouldn't it be better to adapt Gold Fellowship rules so that it is beneficial for everybody? Mithril (in terms of sales) and the members (in terms of possibilities)
couldn't it be possible ro submit GF "sets" , to counter the absence or regular releases, that would be small military sets or thematic sets that would take ONCE per year as parallel suggestion/vote system beside the regular one taking more time and more rules to both suggest and vote , with a release date for the "next year"
I could try to work or ask the GF members if they are ok with that (a poll would be fine) and it would allow mithril to at least release a set of "haradrim" , "elven army" or easterlings, or helm's deep 3 or other things like "townfolk theme" or "undead themes" or "lossoth" or whatever... that would better fit a set than "single"...
Years ago, for the release of Helm's deep 2 a vote was made to choose a "set" and it did have a result.... Now i know that easterlings and helm's deep 3 is taking dust on a shelf for more than 5 years, and this way could allow them to be released in a "cost-control" way (production/demand) INSIDE the Gold Fellowship
what do you think? Is it worth giving a thought and trying to work it out with more detail or would Lars Edman totally reject the idea?

well once again ...
King Elessar mounted at the Dark Gate (Morannon)
This would be the final assault of the armies of Good , led by Aragorn in his king of Gondor armor , supreme leader of all the free people armies, facing the last assault on Cirith Gorgor (the dark Gate of Mordor) As far as I remember, there are not many representations of Aragorn mounted...
(third or fourth time I suggest it , if I remember well...)

well it would be fair and honest from Lars and Michael to announce they cease completly to produce regular series... as it seems they are indeed dead.
now though, considering that, it could be a good opportunity to redefine the "boundaries" or how the gold fellowship should/must work
Kickstarter or any kind of crowdfunding, fur a hobby such as collector figurines produced on a slow level would benefit everybody.... both Prince August and the customers...
Time to think about it PA....

I think the best approach would be to have a blind vote but once you put your vote, you can change your vote but not unlimited times... because this system, basically allows you to change your vote many times.
remember that such kind of votes allow for 'sanction votes' , meaning that you would vote for "anything" providing it is NOT a given suggestion... completly sacrificing what you actually would like to see realised...
this transforms the "vote 'for' what you like" into "vote 'against' what you don't like".... isn't it a bit odd?

better not expand this debate on a political point of view master O'Brian, you might attract yourself a lot of furious backlash... I will conclude with what I have to say about it : Current democracy includes secrecy for the identity of who votes but also HIGH secrecy about the results of a vote before the vote ends. Knowing the results of a vote before its end (factually I mean, not "extrapolations") would be a direct attack to the core notion of democracy. We are not in politics here indeed the implications are very very very lower , but I just wanted to make my point. Besides this is off topic (I'm expert at being off topic I know) If you want to respect democracy then, it is easy make a poll yourself to ask GF members what they prefer (two rounds or single one with switch option ) (I assure you, a single vote will be enough hehehe)

Support Elfhelm of Rohan ! (bis)
(suggestion by Barliman indeed)
as a post scriptum, in addition to last month final post by Michael, I still think that two votes, the first one being a blind vote would be the best. indeed the second vote could allow people to change their vote during the voting period. But too much lobbying (and people can be good at it...) could jeopardize the result of a "first round vote" if the results are visible before you put your vote.... So please, keep the two votes system

mmhh it seems it's a tie, who will be the winner in this case? Elfhelm, or the fight between Eldacar and Castamir?
Chris has the last word when it comes to a tie, I'm curious to know his preference

Post by Gildor on Aug 4, 2014 14:34:55 GMT
well we have to consider that mounted months also mean "small vignette" month, which are as rare as mounted... I really expect Eldacar/Castamir to be a vignette of "fight", not two single figurine in the same package, else I don't see the point...

I think I'll vote for Elfhelm or the witch king in the second turn... I think it's a single vote this time.... No second turn for challengers !!@ mmh you are correct indeed , a single vote this month... well then, I'll sacrifice my own suggestion then... (a pity I have to vote "against" a suggestion rather than "for" one...but well that's how voting goes...) I have nothing against Haradrim sculptures by Chris, Hwolf, but this is the eternal debate : I buy mithril because they are Tolkien, and you can point at a glasscase saying THIS one is... "name a character"... If I want beautiful figures, I buy Pegaso, Andrea, or any kind of brands doing great figurines too (sometimes even better than mithril, in another scale) no what I like to buy is figurines I can clearly give a "soul" to when I paint them... I cannot manage to paint a figurine that is anonymous, I complety lack any "inspiration" to paint anonymous characters...

I voted for my own suggestion (Aragorn at black gate) for the time being... which, I'm no more surprised... did not get attention at all. Maybe I should ask guys like Hwolf or Shadyt to submit my ideas, they tend to have quite a success at winning suggestions (12 for Hwolf, 9 for Shadyt)
I think I'll vote for Elfhelm or the witch king in the second turn, I begin to have quite an indigestion with all those Haradrim army or common characters.... but that's my opinion...
some stats : 4 winning haradrim "commoners" in two years... I think that's the highest stats of a given race (as anonymous characters) in the whole Gold Fellowship range actually...
MS468 : may 2007 - Haradrim on war camel (by Hwolf) MS494 : october 2007 - Haradrim chieftain (by bombadil963) MS584 : may 2012 - Haradrim Bellydancer & trader (by Hwolf) MS596 : november 2012 - Haradrim Musician (by Theobald) MS602 : june 2013 - Black Troll-man of Far-harad (by Shadyt) MS6xx : November 2013 : Haradan Standard Bearer (by Shadyt)
a Haradrim regular full 10 figs. range would have been more appropriate due to such an acclaim

strangely, when we have the opportunity to suggest double figures or little scenes, our inspiration is great... maybe we should suggest only once per two months for a year, and only suggest doubles, only six releases per year and Mithril could make up with their delays too, this way just a suggestion... what do you think?

the idea of Merry as Rohan squire is quite good. Actually we already have a "Gondor suit" Pippin, but no "Rohan suit" Merry at all... that could be a great addition
as for my own suggestion :
King Elessar at the Black Gate
During the last assault at the end of the War of the Ring, when the negociations were done with the Mouth of Sauron, Aragorn led the last stand upon the Black Gate. From this battle we already have a great vignette with Beregond and Pippin and the troll. but the very leader of the army of Free Folks, all clad in his regal armor, on horse, gathering troops and rousing them for one last hopeless stand ... would be epic
(Some will say, yet another Aragorn... but we do not have a single Aragorn as a king , mounted, in combat, leading troops as a commander, not as a ranger... So that is quite unique...Actually there is only one Aragorn mounted in the whole range, it's the "House of Elrond" scene of the leave-taking, with Arwen...)
It could be inspired by M260 Theoden, on a rearing horse (rearing horse in mithril range is quite unique with M260) or a backing horse (like the unreleased MW347 mounted Dunlending captain)

About Thorondir suggestion by Mornedhel, that would be great though I fear the "steward chair" may not be as ornate as in the picture. We have an example of Denethor sitting on the steward chair already and the chair is a very very "basic one".... Unless it was a choice of later stewards to remove any kind of ornate furniture for their office , it may be the case...
I'd indeed appreciate an enthroned figurine... actually there is a lack of enthroned figurines (except for the elves)

is it a coincidence or do I see a "schema" months after months trying to build up an Haradrim warband? standard bearer... now musician... we already have cavalry and light and heavy infantry (horses and mumak) and officers in the mithril range...
Not being able to get an easterling army so trying to build up an haradrim army piece by piece, years after year ...
