The Dorwinions!

I just went back and read all off those lists. It brought back good memories, and reminded me of all of the good ideas that haven't been made yet by Chris. After 5 years of Fellowship Gold, there are going to be many people suggesting ideas originaly thought of by others. I will do so myself this week, ;-)
It would be nice to see a
[glow=red,2,300]Female Dorwinion Wine Merchant and Male Dorwinion Official[/glow]
These would be dressed appropriately to their occupations, given a North Eastern Middle-Earth culture.

Such a close race! I hope we see all of these suggestions before long.

I must admit that I like all three of these ideas, so I will be pleased to purchase any of them.
But in the past I have also recommended Mauhur on several occassions, and I feel it is time for a "bad" guy again--especially one that is listed by name several times in the Books.
Go Mauhur!!!

Yes, Master Ent and Dave, every suggestion I have made that eventually won took a long time; including Theodred. But I am a little Entish . . . you know, patient. And it seems to be a pattern . . . good ideas eventually win.
So I encourage everyone to keep up with their ideas.

Well, it looks like the deadline to vote has passed. So I thank everyone who voted for Hirgon. This was the sixth or seventh time (I lost track) I have recommended him, and as mentioned, others like estel and thingol have suggested him also besides me. It proves that if you like an idea and keep suggesting it eventually it has a chance to be made.
So I hope that those who suggested the other three ideas keep offering them, as I think they would all make good figures.

I'll second that, Barli.

Perhaps Hirgon will finally prevail! But the Khand body guard is close.
The descriptions by 13thraven are very good to remind us of the importance of Hirgon and the Red Arrow in the relationship between the Gondorians and the Rohirrim, going back to the days when they (then called the Eotheod) settled in the Vales of Anduin to the north. A mounted Hirgon would be great, Thingol, and I remember your suggestion. But as this is a single month the pose suggested was of Hirgon on one knee before King Theoden, holding the Red Arrow out before him with one hand to the King of Rohan.
Vote HIRGON and let's see this important character created by Chris!

Hirgon, Hirgon, He's our man; if anyone can bring the Rohirrim Hirgon can!!!

Once again, I will suggest Hirgon, Bearer of the Red Arrow.
He did not make the second round last time, but has in previous months. He is a pivital figure in the Lord of the Rings, as it was his arrival that convinced King Theoden to ride with his host to Gondor. I see him bowed on one knee before King Theoden presenting the arrow in outstreached hand, with head bowed. His riding gear would be light for speed.

Well it seems like we have plenty of great bad guy suggestions to go with the always numerous good guy suggestions.
I know of Lothgaringa. It was a land established in the 9th century and lasted in some form for over 500 years, rarely independant, before constant struggles between its more powerful Easten Frankish and Western Frankish neighbors finally caused it to disintegrate into smaller dutchies and protectorates. Originally it extended from the low countries just south of Denmark down both sides of the Rhine and into Western Switzerland and Eastern France. Today's Lorraine Provence in France was once part of the core lands of Lothgaringa.
So Grond, now you have some history to go with Roland's lesson. Although I would argue that the enemies of the Lothgaringans, especially the soldiers of Charles the Fat who the Lothgaringians helped depose in 887 would have said that "half-Orc" was a good description (if not liguistically correct) of their enemy :-)

We are almost done! Hopefully we have a last minute vote for Hirgon to put him into the next round!
Only 5 ideas have more than 4 votes. And 4 ideas have 4 votes.

Gildor and Michael, my idea was to focus on Mithril and Chris. Any reference to PA or Chris's other works would be incidental. But imisel is correct, any cross reference between subjects could be welcome, and maybe even an opportunity for PA to set up a wiki page of its own (if one doesn't already exist).

I have voted for Hirgon and Mauhur; but there are many excellent ideas!
But Michael, I hope that since this is a two figure vote we have 6 or 7 ideas that make the second round, not just 4 or 5.

Gildor and Michael, another idea would be to add a link to the interview of Chris Tubb which Gildor published on the MMP website a few years ago to any Wikipedia entry. Of course Chris would need to agree. That interview gave a very good history of Mithril and description of the figures.

That would be awesome! (of course I will vote for my own suggestions first). Even if they must be separate bases they can be sculpted in a way to interact with each other

Nameless Things refer to evil beings older than and outside of the control of Sauron.
Nameless Things were real beasts/monsters/ beings, according to Tolkien. He just didn't decsribe them in detail. They are not the "evil nature" of the humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, trolls, etc . . . . There is a strong element in Tolkiens writings about good and evil, but that is mainly referencing the of the control of Sauron over his servants, and Sauron's ability to cause the Free Peoples to distrust each other, and encourage them to be proud and impatient with each other.
So the question is: do we want Chris to give us his example of a Nameless Thing?
I voted for the Dwarf this time. But I would like to see a Nameless Thing according to Chris T's interpretation someday. Unless, of course, there are ideas to vote for that I like better :-)

Another good reason for us to "be nice" is that some members don't like the arguments, and it might make them less likely to participate in the discussion and voting.
But it goes both ways . . . some people feel insulted very easily, and take offense where none was intended, and then let those feelings continue on for a long time . . . . Please remember that this is a hobby, and meant to be fun.
We need to give each other the benefit of the doubt in our conversations, especially since English isn't the first language for many members. Afterall, we all want the same thing--a profitable Mithril where Chris continues to make figures for us.
So . . . back to the vote! It looks very close, will we make 50 votes? That would be progress :-)

I had to vote for Thorin III Stonehelm. I really also want a Nameless Thing . . . but not as bad. I think the sketch is great, and Chris has some ideas about a Nameless Thing too. But Thorin's helm would be awesome to see sculpted by Chris. Either way I'll be happy, and hope that the others are resubmitted in the months to come.
PS. Grond, there is a striking resemblance between your avatar and the sketch, LOL! ;-)

I started out buying Mithrils specifically for RPG's, but really came to appreciate the skill of Chris, and began collecting all 32mm in the early '90s. Now I still RPG with some duplicate Mithrils, but keep my originals seperated. I also selected the Other box because I used Mithril Classics to create a Chess set (thanks Wendy!).

I have no problem with a Warg Leader, although I think it would be hard when the latest release by C Tubb is a wolf-rider. Also, I have suggested (like others before me) Hirgon with the Red Arrow for the last couple months, but due to computer problems didn't really have time to suggest him this month (very sad as I try to make a point of suggesting a figure). Perhaps Guthlaf picked up a few old Hirgon votes?
I will purchase any of these three, but despite the compelling arguments of Grond, I think it would be interesting to have a pose of Guthlaf, standard bearer to King Theoden, before he mounts his horse to ride in battle. Bombadil is correct, this pose would make an excellent piece to a diorama.

Many good choices!
HIRGON BEARER OF THE RED ARROW!!!
His month has come! He is a named charachter never created by Chris. His arrival in Rohan from Gondor helped convince King Theoden to ride to Gondor's aid, and without the Rohirrim, Gondor would have fallen and I think Frodo's quest would have failed. Mordor would have turned its eye inward and found him out.

For all of us who have suggested Hirgon, perhaps this will be his month:
[glow=red,2,300]HIRGON, BEARER OF THE RED ARROW[/glow] He could be sculpted on one knee, offering the Red Arrow to King Theoden.
"He was clad as a rider with a cloak of dark green over a coat of fine mail; on the front of his helm was wrought a small silver star. In his hand he bore a single arrow, black-feathered and barbed with steel, but the point was painted red."
"He sank on one knee and presented the arrow to Theoden. 'Hail Lord of the Rohirrim, friend of Gondor!' he said. 'Hirgon I am, errand-rider of Denethor, who brings you this token of war.'"
This is a very important scene in the books, as Hirgon's arrival with the Red Arrow convinced King Theoden that Gandalf was right, and if Gondor fell so too would Rohan. At that very meeting Theoden promised that he himself would ride to Gondor with at least six thousand men, and bid Hirgon tell Denethor that he would come to Gondor within a week.
Here is another character who is mentioned by name and plays an important role in the story who Chris hasn't sculpted yet.

Masochistic Grond? ;-) although you do talk a lot about whips, chains, beat 'em, etc . . . . Hhmmmm!!! This is a great race, and I have no doubt that the two who do not win this time will be suggested again. I voted for Mauhur, but will be very happy with the Variag as well. And a late reinforcement from the Undying Lands may yet save the Elf!

What a close race! Mauhur by one . . . . Maybe we'll get over 40 votes this time. I will like any of these three.
Grond, stirring the lye soap with a paddle to keep the chains clean??? Real Orcs like dirty chains! ;-)
