Well, the thread hasn't been closed yet:
So I again suggest FEMALE LOSSOTH HUNTER
There have been many ideas about her suggested in the past, and I'm sure Chris would make an excellent figure of her. I envision that she would be wearing ice skates made from bone, as mentioned in the Red Book of Westmarch, and otherwise attired for an Arctic climate. A spear and a sack slung across her back are also items she might carry.

Hi Michael,
This is the second month in a row with only one voting round. And with only seven suggestions, I can understand why, time constraints or not. But if you propose this as a change to the rules, please let us know.
But I would hope that if there are eight or more suggestions we go back to two rounds. The whole idea of two rounds of voting was to allow people to vote for their own suggestion in the first round, and then vote for between three and five ideas (depending on the number of total suggestions) in the second round of voting.
It is also an advantage to Mithril to have two rounds of voting as that creates more visits to the website and more interest in the FG in particular.
And there have been many instances where an idea for a figure had the most votes in the first round, but a different figure suggestion won the second round to be produced by Chris.

There were 34 votes for (W) figures, and 29 for (E) figures. At least that is what I count when looking at the Jan/Dec first round voting. Perhaps this is an example of some members only voting for one figure?
But it does not matter, we will have excellent figures for these two months and the opportunity to suggest something new next month.

Well Gildor, I think Michael explained things. As for East and West votes, there is no way to have voters only vote for one of each, even if that is the intention. Anyone can vote for two of the same category, just add them up between west and east and you will see the difference. It is the same for previous years (there seems to be a preference for the west figures). Nonetheless, I or some other supporter will nominate Lossoth Woman again.

It is unfortunate that we have only four choices for two votes. Also, how is it that Gloin (worthy as he is) with only 4 votes makes the 2nd round, but Lossoth Woman with 5 does not?

Vote for Lossoth Woman, the hunter needs a wife! ;-)

WEST: Female Lossoth, appropriately attired for the cold, perhaps on Bone skates, per the Red Book of Westernesse.
EAST: Rhun Black-smith, an iron-working man who makes basic items for the semi-nomadic inhabitants of Rhun, such as horseshoes, armor, and weapons.

Canonical; Heretical, Fanatical . . . you know, owners of the "truth."
If there is a named "canonical" figure that hasn't been produced yet, and it looses in the voting to an everyday "commoner" like a hunter, or a wine-merchant, or a standard-bearer, so be it. The same can be said for MERP figures, whiched launched the Mithril line in the first place.
These named figures in JRRT's works obviously interacted with "common" people, even if not specifically mentioned in his books.
It really becomes a question of, should we limit figures to those specifically mentioned, or to those mentioned as well as those we could reasonably imagine. Well, every month we have a choice. I, like many, have suggested and voted for figures in both categories.
Love Democracy!

Master Ent. there is no blame! And canon or not, no regrets about a suggestion for us to vote on. I think our group is responsible for many great and different figures. The musican will be in the second round, and I shall vote for it. The dancer needs music!

Well, my suggestion was: "What a great idea for a diorama, Theobald! Now perhaps another character could be a ROADHOUSE BOUNCER He would be a large man, perhaps with a club, hired by the establishment to break up fights between unruly patrons, and to keep the men from taking liberties with the dancers/barmaids. Chris could make this figure any way he wanted, but I imagine the figure would be posed as a man sitting on a stool, or standing with arms crosssed about his chest." I did not intend to put Nob out of work I was going along with the whole Haradrim dancer/merchant/musician idea for a diorama. I'm not sure why "Prancing Pony" got added to my suggestion. Oh well, there is always next month (and hopefully many more) to make suggestions. Read more: mithrilfigures.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=july2005&action=display&thread=1221#ixzz2CSMYZxn3

OK, 24 votes so far and no comments; So I will say: VOTE FEMALE DWARF!!!!

Ha tolwen! I'm sure that any Female Dwarf would have taken her blade to someone so insolent as to try to "shave" her. As would all of her brethern!
But in the meantime, Master tolwen, while the Dwarves search for the culprit, why not make a suggestion for a figure this month? It seems as though many FG members are on Summer vacation.

[glow=red,2,300]FEMALE DWARF OF THE IRON HILLS[/glow]
She has been suggested by many others before. It would be a challenge for Chris to sculpt a female dwarf. I imaginge she would be sturdy in build and without facial hair, perhaps in every day garb.
Another possibility is that dwarven women gear up with armor and weapons to defend their homeland/mountain halls, but do not venture away any great distance to fight in foreign lands. In this case, the female dwarf would be attired in the same gear as male Iron Hills warriors.
There are many possibilities with this popular suggestion.

Hello and Welcome enheduanna! That is a great suggestion, and would match well with the Lossoth Hunter which was made a couple of years ago.

Hello Barli,
I am glad to hear that you support Elfhelm. Indeed he has been suggested by a few of us many times. I barely suggested him before the deadline for this month.
But more important, I hope you have regained your health.

We have many good suggestions this month. I would be happy for any of them. Still, they are not very many total.
So I will suggest an old name that has come close to winning, but never quite made it. I have suggested him as a part of a vignette in the past. Perhaps now is his time as a mounted figure, which I think would be his most natural depiction.
[glow=red,2,300]Elfhelm, Marshal of the East Mark![/glow]
A lord of Rohan and later Marshal of the East-mark; he fought with Grimbold in the First Battle of the Fords of Isen after the loss of Théodred.
I picture him mounted and attired in full Rohan battle gear. Not fancy plate armor but something fitting a high officer of the Rohirrim. Naturally his horse would be provisioned at the same high level. Chris has always produced high quality pieces depicting mounted Rohirrim.
Elfhelm has yet to be produced in any Mithril range (unless I am mistaken), and is one of the last major Rohir figures left for Chris.

Hopefully a few members are waiting until the last minute to vote on these great suggestions. Not only is 33 votes disappointing, we have 5 ideas tied for third place with 3 votes. Someone needs to break that tie or we'll only have two figures to choose from in the 2nd round vote. Perhaps several people are on vacation?

There are many great suggestions this month!!! Because of that, and that Erestor won last month, I will not offer a suggestion this month. Good Luck everyone

I will revive an old idea also. He has been suggested by me before, but also by several others.
[glow=red,2,300]ERESTOR OF RIVENDELL[/glow]
The chief counsellor of Elrond's household at the time of the War of the Ring, who took part in the Council of Elrond. He did not support the idea of destroying the Ring, and preferred instead the notion of guarding it from Sauron, perhaps with the aid of Tom Bombadil (Encyclopedia of Arda).
Erestor is one of the last missing named Elven characters from the Hobbit. I envision him as tall and noble looking, even among Elves. He would have long flowing robes with a sash, and a gemmed circlet about his brow to keep his long hair in place. He would carry no weapon, nor wear any armor. He could be postured as holding out a scroll in both hands reading, or perhaps handing a personal scroll to someone (presumably Elrond).
Of course, should this suggestion win, Chris could sculpt him any way he wanted.

[glow=red,2,300]Dol Amroth Male Courrier[/glow] (could be vistim of Female Assassin of Dol Amroth, lol).
[glow=red,2,300]Dol Amroth Female Innkeeper[/glow] (could serve soldiers in diorama).
These ideas are to expand on citizens of Dol Amroth for purpose of diorama's/vignettes; or to aid in RPG adventures set in Dol Amroth
More description will follow in first round voting.

There are several good choices here, but I am glad to see that the Easterling Emissary is getting such good support.
In the time of Girion, before Smaug decended upon the Lonely Mountain and drove out the Dwarves, there was a great commerce in the northeastern lands of Middle Earth. Erebor, Dale, towns of Rhovanion, Dorwinion, Gondor, and the Anduin Vales, and those of Rhun all traded directly with each other. We have some Easterling warrior/magic user type figures, but none who is basically a diplomat (spy). I picture the Emissary of Rhun in ceremonial gear. As a generally nomadic people he would be in riding gear with a sword, but over fine clothes with no head gear, as his purpose would be to arrange trade deals with (and spy on) Dorwinion, Dale and Erebor--and secretly, with the Orcs of the Grey Mountains and Misty Mountans. He would be high in the confidence of the just released Easterling Chieftan!
For those yet to cast their vote, please support this unique individual!

We are coming down to the finish, and on the "Evil" side it looks like a very close race! But only 33 voters? Perhaps there will be a last minute rush of votes, hopefully at least enough to break the ties for 1st and 3rd among the Evil choices....
