No, there are not any secrets here, I am just curious (maybe nosy?). I can't say my German has improved much. The site I used did seem to translate it better this time though. As far as Felarof's design...hmm. I think he should be slightly larger and I would like to see lots of definition in his head - a well defined face. He needs to look intelligent (since he could understand language) so maybe his eyes should be large and expressive, without being absurdly large. I think he should look like he could run forever but still hold his own in battle. A rather tall order, no? And the pose will be very important. And no bit or bridle. Ich freue mich zu sehen, daß Frumgar fast komplett ist. Ich muß dieses zweifellos kaufen, da Miniaturen mit den Männern, die Pferde reiten, mein Liebling sind. Wendy

(I used a translation website, so this may not sound right.): Glückwünsche Bombadil! (Congratulations Bombadil! I believe in Chris' capable hands, Gilraen and Aragorn will be a lovely figure. I agree with you regarding the design of Felarof. He should be different from the other horses of the Rohirrim. I will pass that thought on to Barliman.) Regards, Wendy

Hallo Wendy, hallo Theobald! I think your post is a good example for what translation sites can fulfill and where are their limits, Wendy . . . I try to retranslate it: Hi Bombadil, I would not take care about a dwarvish picture that was created for the scholarship. I normally do like what Mr. Tubb sculpts. Hehe, what a way to learn Germanish by comparing. What I am writing with the given translation. I have to pay attention to spell it right. Hehe...it did not translate well at all. I was trying to say that I would not mind if a dwarf figure is made for the fellowship since I generally like what Mr. Tubb sculpts. Or another way to say it: a dwarf figure made for the fellowship would be fine. (It is a little scary to type something and have a computer translate it - I hope I do not offend as I have no idea what the computer translates.) So many possibilities for misunderstandings... This is why I admire anyone who can speak (or type) two or more languages. Haben Sie einen guten Tag. Wendy

Hallo Bombadil - ich würde nicht um mich eine zwergartige Abbildung kümmern, die für das Stipendium gebildet wurde. Ich mag normalerweise, was Herr Tubb sculpts. Hehe... eine welche Weise, zu erlernen Deutsches - durch das Vergleichen, was ich mit der gegebenen Übersetzung schreibe. Ich muß achtgeben, daß alles richtig buchstabiere. (p.s. why are some of the words capitalized?)

Hey Tom, if you're really curious as to what is being said, you can copy and paste to a translator website. You'll get the gist of what's being said. (Bombadil is correct that it does not translate well some of the time.) By the way Bombadil, I'm glad you like Halbarad.

Would it be possible to be warned when the fellowship shirts will be mailed? I'd like to (and need to) buy some fellowship figs. Would it be possible to have them shipped together, or would that be too complicated? I figure the shirt would make excellent padding for them.

Hey Michael. Would it be possible to have to get the basic measurements of the polo sizes (specifically size M)? Basically, just width across the chest and the length of the shirt would be fine. As sizes vary so much depending on the manufacturer, I don't want it to be to big. By the way, the price isn't bad at all. Heh, I'm glad you didn't pick white. I'd have had it stained before I knew what happened. Wendy

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that the "ambush" of the invading orcs at Osgiliath was horrible. Not only are Gondorians weak at fighting, they apparently completely lack any tactical ability. I would have thought catching them while in the boats would have made more sense with some volleys of arrows at the very least. They would still be overwelmed, but at least they'd put up a good fight.
I have to consider the movies as completely separate to really appreciate them.
I hope, down the line, someone remakes them. I'd actually like to see a miniseries type of format kind of like the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. There would be more time for developement of plot and characters.

The movies pretty much wussified everyone except Arwen and even she lost hope for a while. I still can't believe the Gondorians were so weak.
There was something about the drums and chanting in the background in ROTK in the "entrance" of the Mumakil that's really cool.

Should Mithril decide to release Rangers of the North (the Grey Company), whether a regular M series or not, I would not be opposed to Halbarad on foot making an appearance. Someone needs to lead them.

Actually, I do know of a WWII game that uses 54mm. It's not huge battles, but more like skirmishes with individuals. Using those rules, I could see having a Middle Earth version.
I suppose I should give a wish example, just to stay on topic. ;D
How about an North/Imlandris release. That way any holes could be filled with some of the Elven Lords. (Elrond need not be produced.)

First, I wish that the corsairs would come out soon. Second, I would wish for a series based on characters from the North, including Halbarad on foot and random Rangers of the North (warriors, trackers, etc), maybe Arathorn, maybe Grey Havens elves...whoever else would fit in. Possibly some examples of baddies would be based on Striders comment that there are creatures within a day's travel from Bree that would make Barliman's blood run cold. There's plenty of room for imagination there.

I would like to see an Eowyn miniature with her actually wearing a dress. Technically, all the figures I have found are really the Dernhelm side of her. I don't think she would wear a strapless dress as they are just not functional. She seems more like a down to earth, get things done kind of girl than a princess type. ;D Plus, she had to help Theoden around - strapless is no good for that.
A figure of Beregond would be nice too. I know there's a Christmas figure of him, but they don't count 'cause the odds of me getting any Christmas figures are slim (and it's a different scale).

For producing Thorin and Company, I was thinking that figures with their instruments (harp, flutes, clarinets, etc) when they are playing at Bag End would be neat (and a good way to tell them apart - 13 dwarves in hoods would look pretty similar).

Oops, sorry. Bad choice of words. By complementary, I meant similar scenario type figures, not free. Well, since I posted in this catagory, I guess I should make a suggestion. Hmm, how about Celebrian? Has a figure been made of her yet? Maybe a Christmas figure since she wouldn't really fit in a series too well.

Since I'm getting the Oliphant, perhaps some complementary figures could be made to go with it? Maybe a couple more Rangers and Southrons (Haradrim?)...or would that be too close to a war band type of thing? Maybe a Southron champion...or make a figure of the Black Serpent that Theoden felled (and his standard bearer)?

Hey Ori, Thanks for sharing the pictures of your dioramas. So creative! I'm working on a couple of dioramas. One is Bilbo and Gollum (M144) in the cave. I found a great piece of flat rock, though the idea of making a whole cave is rather daunting. What would be best to use for the enclosing cave? Plaster? Or maybe not enclose it at all. The easiest part was making a little raft. Not the most original idea, but I have a extra set of these minis. The other is a scene of Strider and the Hobbits (and Bill the Pony) leaving Bree. I'll be using mostly LR minis for this since they don't have a base. Sam will be tricky because I want him to have an apple in his hand ready to throw at Bill Ferny standing behind the hedge. Any suggestions regarding which figure might work best would be appreciated. I fear it may not actually be a "Sam" figure. I still need to find a LR Strider figure as the M figure is just standing there with the sword in the air, and just doesn't fit the situation. And my Vengence of Smaug collapsed, so I'm going to make him "the Death of Smaug" and have him under water laying dead on the lake floor. He already has an arrow in his heart, so I just have to reassemble him in a correct laying pose. As for ideas using old M minis...I'm not too familiar with the minis under M100 as I just started collecting Mithrils a couple years ago. Perhaps a scene at the Doors of Durin at Moria? Or a Rohan scene? Sorry I'm not more helpful. I will have to look at the Catalog listing in the message board again to refresh my memory.

If the more pieces or the pose affect the cost and time dramatically, then the Watcher would be difficult to make and take a long time. Unless only three of four legs designs were made to be randomly inserted in a base or something like that, or just have one tentacle reaching for Frodo.

I really like the idea of Pippin and Beregond facing the troll! I would be that in an instant! It's only fair since Merry got to be in a box set. It's the defining moment for the two hobbits, respectively. So many possibilities...and so long to wait for them to be released...

Making The Lords of Gondor into an M or LT series would be fine too. It's all good as long as it gets done at some point. I realize Mithril can't make and release everything at once because they'd produce themselves right out of a job (and drive Mr. Tubbs crazy at the same time). On average, how long does it take to design, manufacture and release a box set versus a single figure? Does it help the suggestion process if those who are artistically able send sketches? (I'm thinking specifically about the watcher in the water, but the question is general.)

How about a box set of the Lords of Gondor that fought in the War of the Ring, like Forlong the Fat, Dervorin of Ringlo Vale, from Morthond, tall Duinhir and his sons Duilin and Derufin (archers), Hirluin the Fair of Pinnath Gelin, and Imrihil Prince of Dol Amroth. Maybe also some Lords of the Mark. Should they be mounted?

I don't know how feasible this is, but I'd like to see Chris Tubbs interpretation of the Argonath. It'd be a BIG boxset, but it would be so cool! Maybe make them so the pieces are hollow when assembled? It would go well with Ori's suggestion of the Fellowship in the Lorien rafts. Just a thought...
How about people who make suggestions on the message board having first dibs on limited edition figures that they suggested? ;D
I hope I can get the Oliphant. I'm asking for it for Christmas. My mother-in-law is of Irish descent, so I'm sure she'd be happy to support an Irish company.

Regarding the Hobbit Trolls vignette, I think the 3 trolls should be huddled around the fire with a piece of meat roasting on a spit. Design wise, it might be easier if they were sitting on tree stumps or something rather than on the ground. There should be barrel(s) of ale nearby and three large mugs. One troll might have a mug in his hand or drinking. I trust Mr. Tubbs imagination as to what they would wear, but seeing as they are robbing trolls, they probably do not need much in the way of armor. One troll should be wiping his mouth with his sleeve or the back of his hand. Bilbo most definitely should be standing behind one reaching to a pocket that is bulged open. Oh, and a bunch of sacks sitting somewhere would be nice. ;D

If a vignette is to be made next, how about Theoden fighting (defeating) the Black Serpent?
It fits in with the Oliphaunt as far as timing in the book, if he's going for a theme.
Or perhaps a vignette when Faramir "shows his quality" while talking with Frodo and Sam in the cave.

The oliphant should not be too huge because it was from Sam's point of view that it was the size of a house. (How big of a house did Sam live in back in the Shire?) It would not be the size of our houses.
I assume the miniature would have to be hollow with assembly of two halves or something like that?
It would definitely need a war tower with archers and perhaps stores of equipment - extra arrows, and the like. Easier to throw stuff on the back of an oliphant than carry it.
