I suggest:
1. An aged King Dain Ironfoot
who fought alongside King Brand in the War of the Ring. (King Brand has already been released as a fellowship figure.) See Appendix B 3019 March 17 and following text.
I imagine Dain to have a long beard tucked into his belt, richly adorned and well armed, in a fighting pose and slightly beat up.
2. Thorin III Stonehelm, Dain's son and new King under the Mountain after the passing of Dain Ironfoot. See Appendix B.

I suggest an old chestnut - a slightly different take on a mounted figure:
Bombur and Bilbo's escape
In the dwarfs' mad escape from the Goblins in the Misty Mountains, Bilbo could not keep up so the dwarfs carried them on their backs in turn.
The relevant quote is of Bombur carrying Bilbo is:
"Why, O why did I ever bring a wretched little hobbit on a treasure hunt!" said poor Bombur, who was fat, and staggered along with the sweat dripping down his nose in his heat and terror.
I can imagine the look on Bombur's face.
(Yes, I know a Bombur on foot won a few months ago. I just like the idea, even if no one else might. ;D)

I don't have much time to think about it, so I suggest:
Halbarad in battle carrying the standard of Aragorn unfurled
(Can you tell that Halbarad is one of my favorites? ;D)

I'll forgive you Barley. ;D
Well, I would have suggested Bilbo riding on Bombur's back from The Hobbit, but since Bombur just won, that won't fly. So I'll keep thinking...or just support Angbor...

Just on a whim...
I suggest Lord of the Eagles
He is wearing the crown received from Dain after the Battle of Five Armies. He could be a bit bigger than the M-series since they have to be large enough to carry a man. The pose would be completely at the discretion of the esteemed sculptor.

I'll suggest Samwise cooking over a small campfire again.
(No, not Samwise himself cooking over a fire.) Perhaps a brace of coneys in a stew. ;D
For the dioramist, it's simple enough to find a gollum to lurk around and Frodo can be converted easily by sculpting blankets around him.

Hi Hordelord. Welcome to the forum. I think Mithril would love to do something like that. The only problem is a certain other company that to throw its weight around in a litigious fashion would certainly have something to say about it.

Hi George, Welcome to the wonderful world of Mithril. Be sure to check out the faerylands link posted by Michael. The database contains lots of information on Mithrils and the forum is a lot of fun. ;D If you'd like, you can send pics of your painted Mithrils to Michael and he can set up a fan gallery page for you. And/or you can post pics in the gallery section of the faerylands forum (which is called Many Mithril Pages or MMP). We all like seeing other people's work so feel free to share. Some ranges which are fairly recent releases can be bought from Mithril directly. E-bay is a good place to check too. As for what to collect, that is completely up to you. There are a few "holy grails" of Mithril such that reach really high selling prices (as examples, see M7 and M16 on faerylands - there's average ebay selling prices listed with each mini entry) so those may be frustrating to find, but there are plenty of OOP minis that are pretty easy to find still. Hope that helps a little. Wendy

Well, since the originality gaunlet has (or perhaps not) been thrown, I suggest:
[glow=red,2,300]Master Samwise cooking over a small camp fire.[/glow]
Perhaps some stewed rabbit, perhaps not. I don't think I need to cite any quotes.
Edit: Ok, it's not original. Just a modification of Ddaines idea.

Given the hole in the collection for newer GF members because of sold out status, I suggest Halbarad on foot. Since I believe he died in his role as standard bearer, I suggest a fighting pose, a bit dinged up, while keeping the standard flying.

Remember that Mithril's are not made for wargaming, but display, so realistic proportions trumps durability (within reason, of course - there's a balance there).
If you decide to use Mithrils for games, you can always replace the spears and such with brass rod or something similar to make them more durable. That or reinforce them with two part epoxy before painting.

Any chance of moving the deadline for the painting contest back a bit? I'm booked painting wise through Christmas.

Bard and the old thrush
"Suddenly out of the dark something fluttered to his shoulder. He (Bard) started - but it was only an old thrush. Unafraid it perched by his ear and it brought him news. Marvelling he found he could understand its tongue, for he was of the race of Dale."
I imagine Bard to be holding a long bow (bigger than the M series Bard anyway) looking at the thrush on his shoulder with an astonished look on his face. (By "looking at" I mean his head is turned towards the thrush, but not looking directly at it - the eyes are looking at the thrush though, which is more in the painting than the sculpting.) Quiver should be empty and Black Arrow in hand.
It's a rather pivotal point in The Hobbit, and I think would make a nice fig deserving of the extra bit of attention to detail that fellowships minis tend to receive.
(Yes, maybe third time's the charm. ;D)

Thorin or Balin in a Barrel
I suggest either Thorin or Balin (both of whom gave Bilbo the most difficulty getting them into barrels) poking his head out of a barrel, with his hand balancing the top of the barrel on his head, and a none too happy look on his face.

The title King Dain in war gear sounds a lot like the M series figure. Just to clarify, the subject is Dain as King in the War of the Ring so he is very old (with very long beard tucked in his belt) and very hardy and dressed in kingly armor and such. The idea is he would be a compliment to King Brand as King Dain single handedly guarded the body of King Brand in the battle and died from the wounds received.

King Dain, King Under the Mountain
Since King Brand won last month, I'd like to see King Dain made as well. If they are both in battle pose, I can put them back to back myself, as I had suggested it for some vignette months.
I imagine Dain in the War of the Ring as an old, but hardy dwarf, richly armored, with his long white beard tucked in his belt fighting a battle worthy of many a song. Would a type of dragon helm be appropriate?

Angbor the fearless, mounted
From ROTK, The Last Debate:
And there men of Lamedon contested the fords with fell folk of Umbar and Harad who had sailed up the river. But defenders and foes alike gave up the battle and fled when we came, crying out that the King of the Dead was upon them. Only Angbor, Lord of Lamedon, had the heart to abide us; and Aragorn bade him gather his folk and come behind, if they dared, when the Grey Host had passed.
'That night we rested while others laboured. For there were many captives set free, and many slaves released who had been folk of Gondor taken in raids; and soon also there was a great gathering of men out of Lebinnin and the Ethir, and Angbor of Lamedon came up with all the horsemen that he could muster.'
Four thousands I sent marching from Pelargir through Lossarnach two days ago; and Angbor the fearless rides before them.

I voted for the dead horse rider this time, but it was a tough choice. I think sculpt-wise, a really emaciated horse with ribs showing and sunken hindquarters would work, as a starved horse looks strikingly different from a healthy horse. (Sculpting a horse skeleton in that scale that was even remotely close to realistic would be a nightmare.)
